Malbec World Day honors a key milestone in Argentine wine history: on April 17, 1853, President Domingo Faustino Sarmiento launched an initiative to elevate the national wine industry. He invited French agronomist Michel Aimé Pouget to bring new vines to Argentina including Malbec.It was in Mendoza, particularly in the high-altitude terroirs of the Uco Valley, where Malbec flourished.
